LEISURE FOR Pleasure Holidays and Tours Limited aims to boost the image of Jamaica as a travel and tourism destination.
Now, in its seventh year, the company is attempting to increase its reach to individuals and groups from across the globe who crave the 'real Jamaican experience'.
In keeping with the Jamaica Tourist Board's vision to market Jamaica's eco-tourism product, Managing Director for Leisure for Pleasure, Judith James said she plans to step up her efforts to offer more of the adventure tours to her clients.
However, the year old subject of high interest rates on loans is also having an ugly impact on the tourism sector. Miss James said she would love to expand her services but had to seriously consider the cost of borrowing.
"In addition to the high crime rate, the high interest at the commercial banks for business expansion is a challenge," she said.
Jamaica's tourism statistics for 2004 showed that the growth in tourism was greatest from the U.K. and the wider European market, which craves adventure tourism.
An awardee of the Royal Caribbean International for being the "number three producer for cruise," in the island, Leisure for Pleasure continues to be a popular choice for corporate clients who use the service to plan their conferences, fun days or local tours.
"We take the hassle out of planning and give people a memorable experience of Jamaica or wherever we take them," she said.
Along with creatively diversifying her products to include more family and school reunions and honeymoon packages, her company is committed to tapping into areas of the world market not yet explored by other local tour companies.
