In addition to "applications" and letters of encouragement, Rema MacLean's article also prompted this e-mail from a publicity shy reader who has asked that his name not be used.
I AM A 'foreigner' living in Jamaica for several years now. I admire Rema's honesty but am a little surprised at the reactions it has provoked.
Is it so unusual for a woman to know what she wants? By laying her cards on the table she is creating the possibility for laying the foundation for an honest, trustworthy and lasting relationship we all have needs and we should be able to express them openly and honestly.
I am also a bit jealous of Rema she had the opportunity to advertise for an 'eligible male'. I consider myself an 'eligible male' but unfortunately I have yet to discover how to meet an eligible female.
TRUST
I understand why Irie Dawta (a letter printed last week) thinks she "could never trust the male species", but sometimes I feel the same way about the female species.
Trust can be very difficult but it is also very difficult to meet potential eligible females.
