Publisher inducted into Hall of Fame

PETER WEBLEY, the Jamaican publisher of the free monthly newspaper Caribbean Today, has been inducted into the Miami Hall of Fame in recognition of his work in journalism.

Based in South Florida, Mr. Webley launched Caribbean Today in December 1989 to serve the Caribbean diaspora, . With a circulation of 40,000 newspapers is distributed in South Florida, New York, Atlanta, Jamaica and the Caribbean.

Mr. Webley told the Jamaica Information Service (JIS): "It is important that the paper reflects the diversity of the Caribbean diaspora as well as the growing connection between African Americans and other communities."

Mr. Webley has received other awards for his business and community work. These include: the United Coalition of Minority Business Enterprises 2003; the Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Award 2003; and the Miami-Dade Trade Mission 2002 Proclamation.
