THE INAUGURAL Rex Nettleford Prize in Cultural Studies was awarded on Friday to Dr. Sonjah Stanley-Niaah of the Cultural Studies Department of the Mona Campus of the University of the West Indies (UWI).

Man slapped with firearm charges
A 37-YEAR-OLD Jamaican citizen, who arrived in the island on Wednesday with a cache of gun parts, has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and breaches of the Customs Act and importing firearm without a permit.

Midwifery school reopens after 26 years
AFTER BEING closed for 26 years, the Spanish Town School of Midwifery reopen its doors last Thursday. Already the institution has 21 students registered to start its training programme.
