Fatal stabbing linked to gang feud in Trelawny
published: Monday | May 9, 2005

WESTERN BUREAU:

THE FATAL stabbing of a 21-year-old man in Water Square in Falmouth on Thursday has been linked to an ongoing gang war in the Trelawny capital.

The Gleaner has learnt that Glenroy Plummer, unemployed, of a Falmouth Gardens address, is the latest victim of a feud between the Hillsman and Compound gangs that has now claimed nine lives.

Reports suggest that Plummer's murder was a direct reprisal following an incident earlier that morning in which gunmen linked to Hillsman went to the Compound area and fired shots.

The Falmouth police say they are seeking a man known only as 'Speedy', who they believe can assist with their investigations.

Police reports are that Plummer was talking to a female at a bus stop about 5:00 p.m. when four men on bicycles approached him. One of them accosted him and engaged him in a brief conversation, after which he was attacked.

Eyewitness reports are that a baby machete was brandished by the man, who plunged it towards the torso of Plummer. Plummer tried to dodge the weapon, but was wounded on his forearm.

It is said that Plummer then ran off but was pursued by all four men and one of his attackers used the machete to stab him in the back. He again ran off but collapsed, and the men remounted their bicycles and rode off. Plummer was taken to the Falmouth Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
