Corporal Hewitt's other killer identified
published: Wednesday | May 11, 2005

DETECTIVES PROBING the brutal killing of Corporal Chandler Hewitt have established the identity of the second man who was involved in the murder of the 52-year-old sub-officer.

According to the police, the second man has been identified as Jermaine Hughes, a resident of Tivoli Gardens, West Kingston. The other man was identified as 23-year-old Christopher St. Aubyn Coke, of an Acadia address in St. Andrew.

Cpl. Hewitt was attacked and killed last Tuesday at the intersection of West Kings House and Waterloo roads.

While the police are in the process of collecting statements in the killing of Inspector Lascelles Walsh and District Constable Canute Brown, the car which featured in the shooting at the Cross Roads Police Station has been identified.

According to the police, the vehicle belonged to a man who was murdered three weeks ago in downtown Kingston. The police said the man's bullet-riddled body was found near the intersection of Princess and Beckford streets, downtown Kingston.
