Harbour View tackle W'house in feature
published: Wednesday | May 11, 2005

Howard Walker, Staff Reporter

IN-FORM HARBOUR View will host Waterhouse in the feature encounter as the Wray and Nephew National Premier League continues today with a full slate of six matches.

In other games, Reno take on Village, Portmore host Wadadah, Constant Spring welcome Tivoli Gardens, Invaders battle Arlington and Rivoli challenge Arnett Gardens.

At the Harbour View Mini-Stadium, joint leaders Harbour View, on 59 points with Portmore, will be seeking their sixth conse-cutive win of the round when they tackle the dangerous Waterhouse, who are fourth on 57 points but with a game in hand.

So close are the top four teams that on any given day, one can move from fourth to first as only two points separate the likely semi-finalists.

WATERHOUSE MORE DANGEROUS

Harbour View, boasting eight national players, have brushed aside Constant Spring, Village, Arnett Gardens, Arlington and Portmore so far this round and will want to add Waterhouse to the list and gain the psychological advantage heading into next month's June semi-finals.

But Waterhouse, the most consistent team having contested the two end-of-round finals, have a knack of cooling hot teams and with the return of Nigerian Uche Chinyere to link up with Kevin Lamey and Richard West, they will be even more dangerous.

At the other end of the table, relegation favourites Invader and Arlington, on 13 and 16 points respectively, clash in an important fixture, as they will try to close the gap on third-from-bottom Reno who have 22 points.

A win for Arlington could go a far way in catching Reno if the Westmoreland team loses to Village, as the gap would be only three points with five rounds to go.

Meanwhile, Constant Spring, on 25 points, are not sitting too comfortably and a loss against defending champions Tivoli Gardens could also keep them close to the relegation zone.

THE LAST LAUGH

Constant Spring have garnered only four points from their past five games and a favourable result against the rampaging champions is not likely.

Arnett Gardens, the 2002 champions, will try to keep their slim semi-final hopes alive with a win over Rivoli at the Prison Oval.

Arnett Garden's Patrick Beech, fresh from his four-goal exploits against Invaders on Sunday, returns to his favourite hunting ground the Prison Oval home of his old club and should expect no favours from what could be a hostile crowd.

But the once darling of Spanish Town could have the last laugh with another sterling performance.
