Under-16 match cut short by rain
published: Wednesday | May 11, 2005

RAIN BROUGHT a premature end to the opening day's play of the Colts Under-16 final between Norman Manley and Eltham at Melbourne Oval yesterday.

When the rain came at about 2:30 p.m., former champions Eltham were reeling at 125 for nine.

Spinners Marcello Brooks and Nicholas Ferron were the primary destroyers for Norman Manley.

Brooks has so far taken 4-26 and Ferron 2-15 as Eltham, who put on 28 for the first wicket, never looked comfortable. Rohan Freeman (1-26) and Horace Miller (1-5) also chime din with wickets.

Schoolboy cricket's highest individual scorer, Shacoya Thomas, 46, Romio Parker, 29, and Romel Duncan, 11, were the only batsmen to reach double figures.

Andre Scott, nine, and Oshane Baugh, 0, will try to add some respectability to the score when play continues this morning at 10:00.
