A section of the large gathering of mothers and their loved ones listening to the music and catching all the fun at the Mother's Day Brunch at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, last Sunday.
THERE WAS an outpouring of love for mothers that spilled out to the doors of the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel on Sunday May 8, as hundreds came out to celebrate mom at the Mother's Day Champagne Brunch. Some came dressed to the nines in attire that seemed more suited to an evening occasion, while others kept it simple in jeans or mini skirts. The men were not to be outdone and some came dressed to kill in their three-piece suits with ties while others kept it casually elegant.
The event had a delayed start, as there was a massive pile-up at the entrance. Many had waited until Sunday morning to book their reservation for mother's special day. Hence the mad rush. However, after most were seated the show was on it's way.
ROCKED MODESTLY
Dwight Richards and Friends whet the appetites with songs such as Cherry oh Baby by Eric Donaldson and Bam Bam by Grammy winner, Toots and the Maytals. Most people rocked modestly to the beat as they waited to be served.
However, Velera Reid who was celebrating her 69th birthday let it all hang out on the dance floor as Richards and Friends mesmerised the mothers and all others present. She danced most of the day away hardly sitting down to enjoy her meal.
A BOLD STATEMENT
In the fashion show segment, mothers were shown that they could make a bold statement by wearing that little red dress. They also got a taste of sizzling greens and other bright spring colours. Fashions were courtesy of Angela's Boutique.
As the programme moved along as Richards swept the crowd away with a medley of Stir it up and Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White. Then Winsome Benjamin brought a spiritual taste to the event with His Eye is on the Sparrow. Maria Myrie's rendition of Feel like Jumping was well received and mothers were given complimentary stems of roses. Many lucky winners also walked away with weekends for families of four compliments of the SuperClubs hotel chain.
