Traffic changes coming for Half-Way Tree
published: Saturday | May 14, 2005

AS PREPARATORY works for the erection of the Half-Way Tree Transportation Centre get into high gear, traffic changes are set to be implemented in Half-Way Tree shortly.

As of Labour Day, May 23, South Odeon Avenue at both its intersections with Eastwood Park and Constant Spring roads will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. The alternative route will be along North Odeon Avenue, which will operate in a one-way direction from Eastwood Park Road to Constant Spring Road. The road (North Odeon Avenue) will be widened to accommodate three lanes of traffic and traffic lights with its intersection at Constant Spring Road.

Meanwhile, Transport and Works Minister, Robert Pickersgill is scheduled to address a town meeting where he will outline the plans for the erection of the centre. The meeting is scheduled for some time next week.

Construction period for the centre is expected to be 30 months with completion scheduled for the last quarter of 2007.
