Jamaicans Ian Weakley and Delloreen Ennis London logged wins at the International Associa-tion of Athletic Federations (IAAF) Super Grand Prix
yesterday.
National champion Ennis-London sped to victory in 12.77 seconds ahead of Americans Danielle Carruthers (12.83) and Yolanda McCray (13.26).
In the 400 metres hurdles, Weakley raced to a season's best 48.84 seconds clocking to claim victory ahead of American Olympic finalist James Carter (48.93) and Periklís Iakovákis (49.05) of Greece.
Steady form
In the 400 metres, Grenada's World Indoor champion Alleyne Francique finished third in 45.70 seconds behind Ali Nagmeldin Abubakr (45.52) and American World champion Tyree Washing-ton (45.53), while Jamaican Olympic finalist Brandon Simpson (46.27) had to settle for fourth. Bahamian Christine Amertil continued her steady form in the 200 metres this season with a 22.95 seconds clocking for second behind American Olympic half lap silver medallist Allyson Felix (22.78).
In the men's 100 metres, Nigerian born Portuguese sprinter Francis Obikwelu (10.05) got the better of American Olympic champions Shawn Crawford and Justin Gatlin who were both timed at 10.14 seconds to be second and third respectively.
