THE EDITOR, Sir:
ON THE matter of Mark Shields, tell me how can you take a total stranger from another country to police your country when he cannot even communicate
without interpretation?
Secondly, we have very intelligent people in Jamaica who are overlooked because we Jamaicans never really take the chance to look within to utilise from within the best we have.
For some reason we think anyone other than us is better. If that is the case why is it when few of us utilise the skills we learn at yard we easily excel above any of the others that we so readily embrace?
After 19 years elsewhere, I still think with no reservation that nowhere is better than yard.
I wish everyone could get the opportunity to go anywhere in the world and then they would know the value of home.
Those in power know the life they live elsewhere is incomparable to home, so stop
letting it look like only people from elsewhere can take control of us.
I bet you that what they are paying people from elsewhere (whether it be in cash or kind), none of us in this life or the next will get it.
It is time for us to look into ourselves and be real. no matter where I go, Jamaica will always be home. Our place of birth determines who we are, not the circumstances in life.
I am, etc.,
