Boys' Town, Santos square off today
published: Wednesday | May 18, 2005

BOYS' TOWN are on the verge on reaching their fourth straight final, but they will have to take the monkey off their back and dispose of their nemesis, Santos, in the second leg of the KSAFA/Jamaica National Super League semi-final at 5:30 p.m. today at the UWI Bowl.

Boys' Town hold a one-goal advantage after clipping Santos 3-2 in the first leg on Saturday.

In the other semi-final at 3:30 p.m., Bull Bay have a two-goal first leg advantage after whipping Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) 3-1.

In the feature encounter, The Red Brigade, losing finalists to Santos in 2002, 2003 and 2004 will be relieved to finally get one over their fierce rivals if they can see the challenge of a determine Santos aggregation.

Andrew Price, coach of Boys' Town, and a former player on the winning St George's College Manning Cup team of 1983, says his team will be driving home its advantage.

"The advantage that we have is a numerical one. I know Santos will be coming again but all we have to do is go out there and beat them again," Price said.

Once again, Boys' Town will be depending on veteran Fitzroy Anglin to lead from the front along with Michael Campbell, Oneil Thompson, Gary McLeod, Kirk Edwards and Jermaine Bailey. Meanwhile, Santos' coach, Carlton 'Spanner' Dennis, is adamant that Santos will advance to the May 28 final.

"Champions are not easily beaten. We still have 90 minutes of football and we will not surrender," Dennis said.

Raymond Smith, Fabian Nethersole, Gregory Consingh and Hubert Allen will have their hands full against a high riding Boys' Town.

In the other semi-final, unbeaten Bull Bay have one leg in the final and they should hold off the challenge of JDF quite easily.
