BULL BAY waltzed into the final of KSAFA/Jamaica National Building Society Super League final 6-3 on aggregate after whipping the Jamaica defence Force (JDF) 3-2 at UWI Bowl yesterday.
Their opponents in the May 28 final will not be known until tonight after the scheduled clash between Boys' Town and Santos was postponed yesterday for security reasons.
Saturday night's shooting incident at a gas station in Harbour View following the first leg Boys' Town-Santos semi-final at Harbour View Mini Stadium, which left three people dead, prompted the postponement.
The game will be played today at the Constant Spring Complex at 3:30 p.m.
Stewart Stephenson, president of KSAFA, said security took priority, amid lighting concerns also at the UWI Bowl.
LIGHTS LOCKED OFF
"The Boys' Town, Santos game will be played at Constant Spring tomorrow (today) in light of security considerations, in addition to these lights which locked off on me yesterday," Stephenson said at the game yesterday.
"Furthermore, I couldn't take any postponements because we are running a deadline with the JFF.
"So in addition to the security which is the prime priority and the possibility that we might have extra time, I prefer to play them in the day," Stephenson added.
So in the only game at the Bowl, the green and yellow-clad Bull Bay through goals from Demetrio Billett (14th), Asa McIntosh ( 49th) and Jermaine Taylor (53rd) put the lighting issue out of the equation with an easy 3-2 win.
The marching men of the JDF got a dream start when Tex Martin opened the scoring in the second minute to cut the deficit to one.
But any thoughts of levelling the tie was quickly brushed aside by three goals in 39 minutes and when Terrence Jarrett found the net for the JDF again in the 86th minute. By then the game was truly over.
HAD THE CONFIDENCE
Barrington Gaynor, player/coach of Bull Bay, had no doubts about the result, even when his team fell behind in the second minute of play.
"It was a bit early in the game and we had the confidence to come from behind, so we just settled and played our game and got the goals.
"We haven't lost a game in the season and we hope to keep that up to the end and today that's what we did," Gaynor added.
Losing coach, Alverie Ledgister thought his team wasted too many chances and paid the price.
"We got the opportunities and didn't put them away so Bull Bay outscored us again. It was a game that we should have won based on the chances we got. The team that scores the goals will go forward.
"We came out knowing we had to get early goals to get ourselves in a position to contest the game. We got our goal in two minutes but we didn't follow through," he noted.
