SANDALS ROYAL Plantation, Golf Resort and Spa hosted its first Mother's Day Brunch on May 8.

The special women were all presented with orchids during the brunch. The usually delectable entrees, appetisers and desserts were doubly so this Mother's Day, with the wide variety of dishes to choose from. And if you couldn't decide on one thing, take it all. Moms, if they so chose, were served instead of having to walk all that way.

The music provided was soothing and calm as moms of all ages, races and faces were treated to fine selections on this their special day. But the highlight of the day, no doubt, was the 'Fashion Explosion' show on the main terrace. Designs from Uzuri International, Polka Dots and Royal Plantation's own Royal Boutique were on show. The models sauntered around to, at times, rapturous applause from the audience. They showed off casual looks, swimwear, and appealing evening wear. The male models especially added to the early afternoon heat with their well-toned physiques. A gift certificate for a makeover from Ocho Rios-based store Mascara was there to be won by a lucky mother.

General Manager Peter Fraser said the hotel had started a monthly brunch about eight months ago and it's usually held on the last Sunday of every month. But being Mother's Day, this was extra special. He further pointed out that other activities are in place for both hotel guests and those looking for entertainment.
