AND SO, my dears, to cap his many years of devoted service to country and party, which ended in February, with him being appointed the Chair of a Distinguished Fellow, at the University of the West Indies, the JLP will honour its former leader, the Most Honourable Edward Seaga, with a Gala Banquet, come May 27.

Dears, it's now official, as the invites are out and just so you know, if you have not yet received yours, no, it was not an oversight, the raw truth is you are not just expected, so enough already.

Well me daahlings, indeed, next weekend will be quite a busy one for Mr. Seaga, as indeed, next Saturday, the 28th, following the banquet in his honour, Mr. Seaga, will celebrate his birthday, and this will be a most private affair restricted to a shortlist of critically hand-picked friends. And this promises to be a warm and intimate affair that will indeed be a lovefest. And speaking of Edward Seaga's birthday, also celebrating birthdays on the same day as the former political dynamo will be Finance and Planning Minister Dr. Omar Davies. Mr. Seaga's son Christopher Seaga will also celebrate on Saturday, as will broadcaster/actress Fae Ellington and hotelier Jason Henzel.

Come Sunday, on the heels of all these celebrations, scribe, Barbara Ellington, will be blowing out the candles on her cake too.

Handwriting 'reader', the very charming Beverly East who is now back home, will also celebrate on Sunday, and the word is, expect a swelleganza.

KINGSLEY COOPER

With days to go before the launching of this year's Fashion Week extravaganza on Friday, June 3, Pulse style icon Kingsley Cooper will be blowing out the candles on his cake, and this here promises to be another chic affair, only that this event will be a private one!

Today, being May 20, however, its all about the oh-so-fabulous Sheila Benjamin-Fernandez, as she celebrates another fab year of the fab life, as she and fellow director of the Guardsman Group Commander George Overton, and the charming Renee Menzies-McCallum, all share this day as their birthday. Come Wednesday, Diane Frankson will be dancing up a storm, as she celebrates her special day.

Dears, champagne wishes and caviar dreams all around, and then some!

And the fabulous Miss Jamaica Universe, Raquel Wright, left the island two Saturdays ago for Thailand, where she will compete for the most coveted crown, at the Miss Universe Pageant. Dears, caught up with the beauty and her chaperoning parents at a cocktail reception hosted in her honour before her departure the night before she jetted out, and dears, the lovely lass is a-brimming with fab-confidence. Bon voyage, mon cherie, and good luck.

BOUNCING BABY BOY

Then the stork has arrived carrying a bouncing baby boy named Sam for British High Commission third secretary Mark Waller and his companion Wendy McMinn, also of the British High Commission. Born in the United Kingdom last week, mother and child are doing fine but are not expected back in the island until later this month. Time to break out the cigars, dears.

And dears, all the invites are now out, and come next weekend, while the literati will be heading over to the south coast for the Calabash Literary Festival, snob society and then some will be motoring over to Negril, the international chic jetting in from all over the globe to attend the expected smasheroni nuptials next Saturday, as the lovely Mateel Saba and her beau Paul Galy, tie the marital knot over there in Sav.

FLAWLESS WEDDING

Dovecakes, the celebrations follow, however, at the very chic and upscale Grand Lido Negril and sweet-things, the buzz is it promises to be one flawless wedding, and then some! And dears, if the fabulous satin pouch in which the invites arrived, and the invite itself are anything to go by, we are talking one first class act here and nothing but!

Congrats are definitely in order and extended to man-about-town Wayne Clarke and his bride, the lovely Donna Grant, who said their 'I dos' last Saturday morning in an intimate ceremony held at the Garrison Church, Up-Park Camp, and followed up with a fab breakfast reception at the Terra Nova Hotel.

Then, you are not gonna believe this one, until off course y'all see, footage of the "home video special" now doing the rounds in Upper-St. Andrew!

My dears, talk about being caught red-handed! Well pumpkins, it most certainly does not get any better than this and live and in living colour, to boot.

SECURITY CAMERAS

Dears, the dish is: One St. Andrew matron, growing tired of the pilferage that usually occurs when she opens up her residence to entertain 'friends' only to find several items jewellery, bric-a-brac and not to mention countless pieces of objet d'art, over the years, decided on installing some cameras in some of the more frequented places in her home, whenever she has a do.

Well pumpkins, aaam-a-telling-yuh, y'all would never believe what was recorded on these little cameras. Dears, it is the sort of scandal of the magnitude of the would-be culinary arbiter who became quite notorious really for catering for the rich and famous, but upon her departure from the fabulous homes, mysteriously enough, Wedgwood, and other such valuable wares would go a-missing.

Dearhearts, the dust has not yet settled on this one, as the 'home-movie' has only just had its premiere over the weekend, but honeys, the word is out, and so you can all expect to see a few prominent names being dropped from some prominent guests lists as indeed, this is one hot home movie, with some even hotter stars!
