A KING IS BORN (Winston Griffiths) wins the million-dollar Lotto Sprint Trophy over 1100 metres at Caymanas Park last Saturday in a new stakes record time of 1:04:4. A KING IS BORN is owned by Howard Hamilton and trained by current champion Philip Feanny. - RICARDO MAKYN/STAFF PHOTOGRAPHER

TOMORROW'S 11-RACE programme at Caymanas Park, this marking the first leg of the two-day Labour Day weekend holiday carnival, offers a Pick-9 carryover of $1 million. Despite six favourites obliging, the Pick-9 proved elusive, but not so the Super-6 which was caught by 188 persons, each receiving $4,177.00.

The Pick-9 will embrace races three to 11, the Super-6 races six to 11. We look at the Super-6.

It gets under way with a $150,000 claiming race for the Gladstone 'Puckoo' DeSouza Memorial Cup over 1600 metres to be contested by 10 starters. The horses to note are SILVER WEDDING and SAID I SAID I, both of whom have won two of their last three races, PRIME SUSPECT who was a runaway winner over 1700 metres at this level on May 4 and MYBLUBELLE who was a good winner over the distance back in January.

The winner is almost sure to come from this quartet. When SILVER WEDDING and the free running SAID I SAID I last met on a $160,000 tag over the distance in race three of the CTL Claiming series on April 27, the grey SILVER WEDDING finishing 6 1/2 lengths fourth while SAID I SAID I was 7 3/4 lengths sixth after rearing at the start.

It should be pretty close between them tomorrow, but with champion jockey Trevor Simpson opting for the Steadman Curtis-trained SILVER WEDDING, who won back-to-back races over 1600 metres and 1200 metres respectively some weeks ago, the hint should be taken.

THE SEA PRINCESS, who has scored all three career wins over the straight, should make it number four when she takes on nine starters in the seventh race over her pet trip.

The chestnut filly from the stables of Patrick Fong is not only best drawn on the stands' side, but has looked sharp at exercise in the company of stable-companion GRETZKY who is also expected to put in a punch. Others that can be brought into the reckoning are EMMVEEPEE, HERECOMESTHEJURY, VISCOSITY and the course specialist HONEY BEE, despite her poor draw on the far rails.

PROMISE DEBUT

ALINIGHT, who is bred to get a distance of ground, she being by Alisios out of the Peacemaker mare Midnight Angel, showed promise on her May 7 debut when closing well for fourth behind BUSTER JACK over 1200 metres. She will have gained immensely from the experience and with the trip now extended, should come into her own at the expense of ALL FIRED UP and SOY MUJER, both well prepared in the 12-horse field.

Recent winner SEEMELATER gets the nod over the nicely in SQUARE GARDEN and MY PAL DON in the ninth race over 1800 metres, while SENOR GATO, now better for the recent pipeopener behind stable-companion ZICKWARTY, is preferred to the very fit INSATIABLE in the 10th.

The closing race for the Joshua Morrison Memorial Cup should be won by TOBAGO, now lightly weighted and focused in his quest for this trophy.

The 4-y-o gelding from the stables of Percy Hussey reports from a 4 1/2-month layoff well refreshed and with the distance right up his street, should win at the expense of recent winner MICHAEL POWER and HIGH CHASE.
