TRINIDAD RESIDENT Antony Edwards who graduated from Oxford half a century ago, was inducted as a Member of the Board of Trustees of the St. Catherine's College (Oxford) Foundation.
The foundation was created by alumni in 1986 to support the college's mission of advancing knowledge through areas such as education, research and funding of fellowships. Before Mr. Edwards' appointment, the foundation focused primarily on activities in North America and Japan.
QUALITIES OF LIFE
Mr. Edwards perceives his task to be to familiarise Caribbean students with the outstanding qualities of life and learning at St. Catherine's, and to seek to obtain support for scholarships for potential undergraduates interested in pursuing courses of benefit to their native islands. He would also like to encourage fellowship and co-operation among St. Catherine's graduates of whatever vintage.
Other famous graduates of St. Catherine's include Trinidad's first Prime Minister Eric Williams and Justice Rolston Nelson, recently sworn in as a judge of the Caribbean Court of Justice.
