Cop shot in Sp Town
published: Tuesday | May 24, 2005

SPANISH TOWN, St. Catherine:

A policeman was shot several times while at his home in Hopedale, St. Catherine, yesterday afternoon.

Reports are that Constable Jermaine Minott, who is attached to the Motorised Patrol Division, was at home with family members at about 4 p.m. when a gunman on foot ran into his yard. The man brandished a hand gun and shot the constable in his chest and left thigh. He has been admitted to hospital in a critical condition.

Constable Minott is the second lawman to be shot and injured in St. Catherine in the last 48 hours. On Saturday morning, a constable attached to the Special Anti-crime Task Force was shot and injured in Linstead at about 2 a.m. as he walked home from a party with his common-law wife. He was treated at the Linstead Hospital and released.
