Wholehearted support by Jamaican fathers
published: Wednesday | May 25, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE FAMILY Related Entertainment Events Inc. (F.R.E.E. Inc. TM), promoters of Dads of Distinction 2005, wholeheartedly supports the three-day anti-crime initiative initiated by the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica (PSOJ), commencing with the memorial rally today in Emancipation Park and its positive engagement with the issue of the intolerable viciousness of crime and violence in our country.

The scourge of crime and violence has changed radically the character of the Jamaican society for the worst, and this has created a situation that demands urgent and immediate response from families, communities, interest groups, the churches and the nation at large.

For Jamaica is witnessing a crisis in human relationships where the family, for example, is no longer the place where a sense of belonging, a sense of tradition, love, communication and good human relations flourish.

We hope that the PSOJ's initiative in support of the police and the government's effort to rid the country of criminal viciousness will mark the beginning of the reclamation of the aristocracy of the spirit underlining good community life in Jamaica.

Now is the time for those values which we identify as a society as crucial to our survival to be communicated in as many ways as possible and presented with such impact, consistency and thoroughness that they permeate the society and can compete with the strong negative ones already operating.

I am, etc.,

EVERTON PRYCE

Chief Executive Officer

Dads of Distinction
