BRIDGETOWN, Barbados (AP):
AFTER A decade earmarked as an international player, allrounder Ian Bradshaw is happy with his selection to the West Indies team that will play the first Test against Pakistan in his native Barbados.
The 30-year-old left-arm seamer and batsman has played in 30 one-day internationals since making his belated debut last year at the age of 29. He has been mentioned as a future Test player since he was named captain of the West Indies Under-19 team in 1993.
"It is great to be selected in a West Indies Test squad. I've really enjoyed my time representing the West Indies at the one-day level, but Test cricket is the real test," Bradshaw said on Monday night.
"The exposure that I've gotten playing one-day cricket has really excited me about the prospect of one day playing in a Test match," he added.
Bradshaw gained international recognition in September when he and Courtney Browne added a match-winning stand as the West Indies won the Champions Trophy against England.
It was the West Indies first international trophy since winning the World Cup in 1979.
