Arnett's youngsters shine in cruising win over Wadadah
published: Thursday | May 26, 2005

Paul-Andre Walker, Staff Reporter

ARNETT GARDENS broke their two-game losing streak in the Wray and Nephew National Premier League yesterday with a comfortable 3-0 win over Wadadah at the Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

Arnett got their goals from Kwame Richardson in the 22nd minute, Horace Sharpe in the 76th and Kevin Rose in the 87th.

DISAPPOINTING SEASON

The sparsely-populated stands were testament to the team's disappointing season, however, those that missed the match may have also missed an opportunity to see the future of Arnett Gardens.

Richardson, from the old school, was on the scoresheet with a well-hit free-kick from the left of the 18-yard box into the far post.

Arnett didn't look like scoring again in the first half as Wadadah sought to bring the game back on level terms.

Errant shooting by Oliver Sewell though, cost them, as Arnett brought on Sharpe, who wasted no time in getting on to the scoresheet in the second stanza, a strike that infuriated Wadadah coach Anthony 'Follis' Williams.

CARELESS GAME

"We play careless all the time. I'm totally fed up with these players. Imagine we are trailing one goal to nil and we get three empty goals, Sewell twice and Brissett, and the 'keeper doesn't even have to make a save. That's complete rubbish," commented an irate 'Follis' after the match.

Arnett's third goal made their coach, Michael Tulloch, who has been trying some younger players, proud.

"The players that we are using now are applying themselves in a more focussed way and that displayed itself in the result today," he said.
