FALMOUTH, Trelawny:
VILLAGE UNITED edged Constant Spring 2-1 in a tough but entertaining NPL encounter at the Elliston Wakeland Sports Complex yesterday.
Village opened the scoring through a well-placed Gregory Simpson penalty in the 20th minute. This came about after Omar Allen was taken down in the box.
Village then faced some concerted attacks from the visitors especially Denzil Mitchell and it was no surprise when Andre Moore brought down Carlos Williams, due to the relentless pressure, to give Constant Spring a penalty in the 62nd minute. Emeil Thomas took the penalty and scored although the effort aroused some controversy as the ball hit the crossbar then rebounded to the ground with many in the crowd saying it had not crossed the line.

Constant Spring then got physical, which may have caused them to lose the game. In the 68th minute, a rough tackle just outside the box provided the winning goal for Village.
Gregory Simpson's free kick from the infringement was too hot for keeper Kirk Williams to hold; it rebounded into the path of Nigel Ellis and he made no mistake.
Garfield Gillespie of Constant Spring was sent off with a red card while his teammates Thomas and Tafari O'Connor were shown yellows. Andre Moore, Omar Allen and Nigel Ellis of Village also got yellows.
