New-look shadow cabinet
published: Sunday | May 29, 2005

FOUR PERSONS are reportedly omitted from the new Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) shadow cabinet party leader Bruce Golding is expected to announce tomorrow.

The Sunday Gleaner understands that Olivia 'Babsy' Grange, the party's spokesperson on information and culture; Mike Henry, shadow spokesman on transport; J.C. Hutchinson, agriculture spokesperson and Abe Dabdoub, the party spokesman on environment, will not be among Golding's pick.

According to JLP insiders, those included in the shadow cabinet are:

Horace Chang who will speak on housing; Andrew Holness education. He replaces Senator Anthony Johnson who will now speak on agricultural issues; Shahine Robinson local government and water; Clive Mullings mining and energy; Audley Shaw finance; Pearnel Charles transport. He replaces Mike Henry. Derrick Smith national security; James Robertson youth, community development and sports and Delroy Chuck justice.

Three of the four persons omitted Ms. Grange, Mr. Dabdoub, and Mr. Henry were staunch supporters of former party leader Edward Seaga.

Both Mr. Dabdoub and Mr. Henry took leave of absence from major party duties earlier this year.

The naming of the shadow cabinet is planned for 11 a.m. at Jamaica Pegasus Hotel in New Kingston tomorrow.
