I BELIEVE that the penalty should be increased for pedophiles.
When you take into consideration the long-term effects that these young children have to endure when they fall prey to these sex offenders, is there any harsher punishment?
Apart from being mentally and emotionally disabled, it becomes hard for them to ever trust anyone again and to function as normal people in the society.
Can we really say that our system for rehabilitating offenders is effective and efficient? If we allow these offenders back on the street who is to say that it won't occur again or that they have been truly rehabilitated? Frankly, their word is not good enough.
If we cannot protect our children from the things we can prevent [that is locking them up for good] then who can they turn to? It is our job to preserve the innocence of our children by making sure they remain behind bars or are given a far worse punishment.
