JAMALCO CAPPED an unbeaten Berger Super Netball League season by taking championship honours in last night's final played at the National Indoor Sports Centre.

The Winston Nevers-coached team, which was making its eighth consecutive final appearance, won its third title in as many years.

However, Jamalco had to work overtime for a 41-40 victory over Tivoli.

Jamalco led 10-8, 21-20 and 34-28 at the respective quarter marks before narrowly getting the better of a surging Tivoli at the end.

Jamalco at one point in the final quarter led by 10 clear goals, 39-29, before Tivoli responded with seven unanswered goals making it a three-goal game.

WIDE MARGIN

In fact, the margin of three goals could be considered wide in the context of the game as both teams exchanged goals throughout the encounter.

Young Jamalco shooter Romelda Aiken led the way with 32 goals from 38 attempts while her senior teammate Elaine Davis, who roamed the court, shot a perfect 9-9.

Tivoli's Cleopatra Grant was the loser's best shooter, scoring 22 goals from 27 attempts.

In the third-place play-off, many-time champions Waulgrovians had a 36-31 win over Omega A.

Veteran Connie Francis scored 23 goals from 32 attempts and Simone Forbes 13 from 17 for the winners.
