TWO HOUSES were razed and five illegal guns found yesterday in Duhaney Park, where there has been an ongoing gang feud between rival factions in that community.

According to a spokesperson at the Constabulary Communication Network (CCN), a man identified as 31-year-old Ian Benjamin has been charged in connection with the weapons, which include four home-made shotguns and a 9-mm Smith Wesson pistol.

EXPLOSIONS

Reports are that gunmen from a section of the community struck about 6:45 a.m. in the Hill Foot area of Duhaney Park. It is alleged that while the police and the firemen were putting out the blaze at the first house, they heard explosions and later saw another house about 300 metres away on fire.

Residents claimed the houses were lit by gunmen who invaded the area. In response to the incident, members of the South St. Andrew Police Division and colleagues from the Special Anti Crime Task Force (SACTF) revisited the community.

The Gleaner was advised that about 10:00 a.m. the police carried out a raid in the New Haven area. A group of men who were acting suspiciously ran from a premises on the arrival of the police. During a search of the premises the five guns were found.
