Capital and Credit fetes staff
published: Monday | May 30, 2005

Capital and Credit Merchant Bank continues to recognise and celebrate the contributions of national heroes in general, and Marcus Mosiah Garvey in particular. The bank recently donated bookshelves to the library of Liberty Hall, which is located on King Street, Kingston. At the handing over ceremony, chairman of the bank, Ryland T. Campbell (centre) had the rapt attention of chairman of Liberty Hall, professor Rupert Lewis (left), and director/curator of Liberty Hall, Mrs. Donna McFarlane. - CONTRIBUTED

THE CAPITAL and Credit Financial Group, in celebrating its year-long achievements in the financial sector, honoured several employees at a grand dinner and dance ceremony at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel last Saturday night.

More than 30 employees were recognised for their years of service, as well as achievements in various individual categories at the 11-year-old institution.

Ricardo Gooden received the employee of the year award; Christine Lewis won the outstanding leadership award for community service; and Keron Brown for top sales referrals to Capital and Credit Merchant Bank.

MANAGERS LAUDED

Guest speaker at the function, Rear Admiral Hardley Lewin, Chief-of-Staff of the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF), lauded the managers and staff of the bank for their outstanding performance and their continued success, despite the difficult economic climate in Jamaica. "Capital and Credit does it again for the financial year ending 31st of December, 2004. The bank, along with its subsidiaries, achieved consolidated net profit after tax of approximately $865 million; that is nearly 86 per cent more than what you achieved in 2003," Rear Admiral Lewin noted.

Total assets being managed by the bank rose by 43 per cent to over $59 billion in 2004, representing a $17 billion increase when compared with the total assets under management in 2003.

"The Capital and Credit family has much to be proud of, having distinguished yourself as being a bank of excellent achievement in growth and profitability in what is a very highly competitive banking environment," the JDF Chief-of-Staff said. "It is a timely reminder of what we can achieve once we put our mind to it," he added.
