Journalists, taxi driver hurt in crash
published: Monday | May 30, 2005

THE WORLD of journalism almost lost two of its sporting professionals near midnight Saturday as popular Radio Jamaica (RJR) sports coordinator, Courtney Sergeant, and Television Jamaica (TvJ) sports journalist and producer Brain Lewis narrowly escaped death.

Reports are that Lewis and Sergeant were on their way home when a car accident put them and an unknown taxi driver in the hospital.

Eyewitnesses on the scene indicated that the white Toyota Corolla transporting both journalists home from work was attempting to make a right turn from Trafalgar Road onto Lord Nelson Way when a black Lexus heading in the other direction collided with the front left hand side of the vehicle, sending both vehicles careening down the dual carriageway.

Both Sergeant and Lewis were taken to the Medical Associates Hospital where they were treated and sent home.

However, the driver of the Corolla was deemed to be in a more serious condition and had to be admitted.

According to reports, the driver has been suffering from memory loss and cannot remember anything that has taken place this year.
