LETTER OF THE DAY - Petition against crime in Ja
published: Tuesday | May 31, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir

CRIME: 'VIOLATION of the law, wicked or forbidden act; something to be regretted'. That's the meaning given by Collins Canadian English Dictionary. As Jamaicans living in Canada, it is time for us to stand up for our beloved Jamaica, crime is destroying and devouring our homeland. 'Out Of Many, One People', what strong and powerful words.

My name is Devon Henry, aka 'Fretty' of Colours Entertainment, and I will not sit by any more. I invite all Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica to join me and send a message to the Government and people of Jamaica, let them know that we care and we need to see this cancer cut from the body and soul of Jamaica. Jamaicans all over the world are afraid to go home, they are afraid to go and visit or do business in the land of their birth. I am one man but, with the help of the most high and each one of you, we can make a difference.

Join me in signing the 'war against crime' petition. All I am asking for is your signature. The petition kicks off on June 20. April and May will be used to get the word out and to confirm all the locations where Jamaicans and friends of Jamaica can go to sign the petition books.

VOICE YOUR OPINIONS

Please enter your comments and let us know your thoughts on the petition or about the state of crime in Jamaica. Please voice your opinion and it will be posted on the site. For legal reasons, we will be reviewing posts for appropriateness before posting live. Posts that are deemed as acceptable by the site administrator will be posted without editing. (By appropriate-ness, we mean that the feedback should be void of all profanities and statements that can be construed as defamation).

Please voice your opinion so that people all over the world will know how strongly you feel about this subject.

Visit www.coloursent.com and go to post petition feedback; you must have a valid email address.

I am, etc.,

DEVON HENRY
