published: Saturday | June 4, 2005

OUR LADY of the Angels continue to lead rivals after day two of the Inter-Prep Schools Track and Field Championships at the National Stadium, yesterday.

After seven of eight finals completed at press time, Our Lady of the Angels led with 54 points, 13 more than nearest rivals, Ardenne (41), followed by Quest (37) and defending champions, Hydel (23).

Mona (22), Vaz (21), Wolmer's and Stella Maris (12 each), St. Catherine (nine), and St. Andrew (eight), round off the top nine teams.

In three finals contested yesterday, Mona's Maulford Smith leapt 4.77 metres to break the boys' Class Two long jump record. He beat the old mark of 4.70m set by Andre Solomon last year.

Ardenne's Cilve Pullun also leapt 4.76m but finished second, while third place went to Our Lady of the Angels' Javauny Hyde (4.51m).

Candice Peters of Our Lady of the Angels (1.26m) defeated Quest's Kenelia Riley (1.21m), as the Ardenne pair of Candice Davis and Jonelle Campbell (1.16m each) shared third in the girls' high jump Class Two event.

The girls' high jump Class One went to Shanice Grant of Stella Maris with a leap of 1.48m. She defeated St. Andrew's Georgia Williams (1.48m) and Jodeen Williams of Wolmer's (1.42m).
