SANDRA CAMPBELL - 'She gave only the best to us'
published: Wednesday | June 8, 2005

LaTonya Linton, Gleaner Writer

MAJOR PHILLIP Campbell, ex-husband of murdered business-woman Sandra Campbell, said yesterday that his ex-wife was an energetic, goal-driven person.

Campbell and her fiancée Lloyd Brown were murdered three days ago at her Stillwell Road residence in St. Andrew. Police reports say that on Sunday morning, killers entered Mrs. Campbell's home and shot her and Brown. She died instantly after being shot in the chest.

"She was very committed to her business and the community, so she never left it as a result of any problems that might occur," Major Campbell told The Gleaner. Even though Mrs. Campbell and her husband have been divorced for eight years, Major Campbell said she was always dedicated to her children and attended their school functions regularly.

A DEDICATED PERSON

Christina Campbell, Sandra's 16-year-old daughter, described her mother as a good woman, vivacious and full of life. "She was a dedicated person and my best friend. I told her every-thing," she added. Christina said her mother always maintained high standards and stuck to them.

"She put her life on hold for her children. She was a considerate person."

Sandra Campbell also has a 23-year-old son, Andrew.

Campbell was a flight attendant for 22 years with the island's national airline, Air Jamaica, before she opened and operated her business, Oono's I Scream Limited, which has two branches in St. Andrew.
