C Spring sink Arlington
published: Wednesday | June 8, 2005

A HAT-TRICK by Nigel Reid propelled Constant Spring to 4-2 victory over relegated Arlington F.C in their final Wray and Nephew National Premier League fixture at the Spring Complex yesterday.

The home team opened the scoring from the boot of Tafari O'Connor in the 28th minute. Decent bouts of possession saw them extend their lead in the 41th minute when a speedy Oneal Morrison shot down the line to put the ball across to Reid, who netted to put his team two up.

Arlington, though playing merely for pride, had some good spells of possession themselves. A well-weighted pass from Roger Aspinal put Dwayne Gowe through to goal and he beat goalkeeper Kirk Williams from close range to pull back a goal for his side just before halftime.

However, Constant Spring quickly restored their two-goal lead in the second half as a through ball played to Reid saw him lob Shane Mattis in the 46th minute.

Reid added his third in the 58th minute while a 66th minute penalty by Locksley Thompson added to Arlington's consolation tally. Unfortunately, the game turned ugly in the 73rd minute when a rash challenge by Carlos Williams led to him being shown a red card, this led to a shoving match between players from both teams and a few fans invaded the pitch. When order was restored, the teams were reduced to ten men apiece.
