Three men held for Bayshore Park murders
published: Thursday | June 9, 2005

THREE MEN were arrested yesterday in connection with the murder of three persons in the Bayshore Park community of St. Andrew, nearly two months ago. The police have described the three as "prime suspects."

"The suspects were among eight persons picked up yesterday during a pre-dawn operation," said Sergeant Steve Brown, the Constabulary Communication Network's (CCN's) liaison officer and spokesperson for Operation Kingfish.

He said the other five men were processed and released yesterday. However, the murder suspects will continue to be interrogated by detectives attached to the Kingston East CIB headquarters and Operation Kingfish.

On Sunday, April 17, a 47-year-old mother, her son and a family friend were killed execution style by gunmen who kicked down their door and pumped several bullets into them.

VICTIMS

The victims were identified as Ivenora Campbell; her 27-year-old son, Miguel Panton and a family friend, Everton Brown. Miss Campbell's nine-year-old daughter was also shot and injured in the incident.

It is alleged that the three were killed as a reprisal to the double murder of two men, Deighton Williams and Rodney Farquharson, whose bodies were found burnt in an open lot on Rose Lane, west Kingston.

Police believe the men, who were from Bayshore Park, were killed by gunmen from the Matthews Lane area of west Kingston.

Investigations into that matter led to the arrest of the area leader, Donald 'Zeeks' Phipps, who was slapped with a double murder charge last week. He has been denied bail and the matter is currently before the courts.
