published: Thursday | June 9, 2005

Rasbert Turner, Gleaner Writer

SPANISH TOWN:

THE DEATH toll from Monday's shooting incident in the Buck Town area of St. Catherine has risen to three.Thirty-six year-old Donovan Allen, who was shot and injured during that incident, succumbed to his injuries in the Spanish Town Hospital at about 11:00 a.m. Tuesday.

Also killed were 66-year-old David Johnson and his 11-year-old granddaughter Shantel Miller. A fourth person who was shot and injured during the incident remains in hospital.

Reports from the Spanish Town Police are that the three deceased and another family member were asleep in their house in the Buck Town area of Nugent Street, Spanish Town, when men approached, kicked off their door and proceeded to fire shots. The gunmen later escaped on foot in the area.

Residents of the community have expressed concern about a potential drive-by shooting in the area and have since resorted to mounting roadblocks at nights. Some have even indicated that they will be leaving Buck Town.
