LETTER OF THE DAY - 'Murder mania' sparks outrage
THE EDITOR, Sir: I WRITE after reading 167 killed in May, 49 slain last week, 746 killed since January as reported in The Gleaner under the headline 'Murder Mania'.

Cellular phones for self-protection
THE EDITOR, Sir:CELLPHONES HAVE become very popular in Jamaica and there are a number of persons who never had access to a land phone but now have cellphone/s. Also persons are giving up their land lines because they have cellphones.

Area Two police are number one
THE EDITOR, Sir: MUCH HAS been said, written and broadcast of the madness and mayhem of criminal activities that have gripped our blessed island.

Set up commodities exchange
THE EDITOR, Sir:WE ALL recognise the importance of agriculture to the Jamaican economy. While some may feel that it should be abandoned altogether, there are crops that we can produce and that we are producing quite efficiently...

Social changes needed
THE EDITOR, Sir: WHEN I was at Primary School, there was a classmate of mine who was well known as a bad boy. Almost every day our principal would "cane" this fellow, but he would return to his normal pattern of badness.
