JAMAICA'S PROSPECTIVE representatives at the Caribbean Amateur Golf Championships (CAGC) in August will get a key hit-out this weekend when the Appleton V/X Classic tees off the Caymanas Golf and Country Club's Golf Week.

The 36-hole Jamaica Golf Association (JGA) qualifying tournament will take the format of an individual strokeplay competition off full handicaps with titles being vied for in four categories: men, seniors, super-seniors and ladies.

Included in this weekend's men's field are 21-year-old Damion Spencer, the top finisher in that section at the recent National Trials, Radcliff Knibbs, Mark Newnham and Michael Gleichman.

The seniors' section will feature Fred Sutherland and Lincoln Williams, while the super-seniors' bracket boasts the likes of Dennis Atkinson and Herman McDonald.

Jamaica's likely women's trio to the CAGC in St. Kitts Jodi Barrow, Maggie Lyn and Lisandra Brown will also be on show.

The popular Golf Week continues on Monday with the Caddie/Staff tournament, followed by the NCB Capital Markets Stableford which will be played off 7/8this handicap.

On Saturday, June 18, the Cable &Wireless Classic tees off in a Two-Ball Better Ball format with handicap limits of 24 for men and 30 for women. Each member of the two-man teams will be required to contribute for at least seven holes.

The week culminates on Sunday, June 19, with the Life of Jamaica Four-Ball Scramble which begins at 8:30 a.m. with a Shot Gun start.

Entries for the week can be made by calling the Caymanas Golf and Country Club.
