THE EDITOR, Sir:
UNTIL WE reach out and touch a child's hand, feel the pain, the need, see that child as our child, we are fighting a losing battle with our present monster, crime in Jamaica.
The Government, the people, we all must work together continuously in love to save this country, not holding microphones and making beautiful speeches, but tearing down the zinc of the inner city and the wall of the upper class and plant the green trees where all the leaves are different but feel they are connected to one big tree, a tree which creates oneness, unity and love.
Too many males are dying and leaving the young boys without fathers. Where do they go? Who do they turn to for fatherly guidance? The gunman or a group of men from both upper and lower class in our society? Who will hug them, speak with them and lead them in the right path? We need to open the sores, all around us and make a fresh start; begin cleansing from the core, the root, the depth seriously each day. For us to heal this nation, we must consciously start seeing the people as flesh and blood from the heart, not how they look or where they are from.
Jamaica belongs to all of us and personally, I don't have anywhere to escape to. As a person that is involved with young lives daily, I set examples. I love them and do unto them as I would do unto my own children. Too much selfishness and greed are devouring our people. Let us take back Jamaica. Let us love from the heart again.
I am, etc.,
