WESTMORELAND TOOK over sole leadership of the Red Stripe Cricket Championship following their eight-wicket win over St. James at Allan Rae Oval.
In the meantime, long-time leaders Portland were grounded for the third time in their last four fixtures as rain led to a no-result in their clash with Clarendon.
With two rounds to play and only the top two teams set to advance to the Supreme Ventures/Super Cup, Westmore-land moved to 35 points, two ahead of Portland (33), who are followed by Police (27), Boys' Town (26), St. Ann (25) and St. Thomas (22).
Westmoreland and Boys' Town were the only two teams to secure outright wins. Boys' Town improved their chances with a 10-wicket victory over Trelawny.
