Taking control of our destiny
published: Thursday | June 16, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

JAMAICANS, ALTHOUGH I strongly believe that we are held hostage by political quests for spoils and individual quests to conquer thy neighbour, it is time we rise and take control of our destiny. Remove the veil from your eyes and acknowledge that this is the land of your birth and as such you are charged with the task of protecting it at all cost. Remove the gag from your mouth and serenade the National Anthem, then look at your neighbour and say "I shall protect your interest at all cost."

Stop turning a blind eye to crime in the interest of fearing your lives while your mother "Jamaica" weeps over the deaths of your brothers and sisters. Jamaica needs us more than we need her. Let us rebuild citizens associations across Jamaica and protect ourselves while the police rid the hills and valleys of the deadly plague called guns.

As I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I shall fear no evil!

I am, etc.,
