HARBOUR VIEW have followed the adage that focus is the key to achieving goals by putting their talented squad into a camp prior to today's Wray and Nephew National Premier semi-final at the National Stadium.
So focused did their coach Donovan Hayles want the team to be for their 7:00 p.m. Wray and Nephew National Premier League feature semi-final, that he took the squad to Golden Shore in St. Thomas where they got away from the pressures of an expectant community.
"Right now I'm mainly working on getting the players together more on a personal level," Hayles said.
TEAM SPIRIT
"Trying to get a certain level of team spirit among each other as well as getting them away from distractions from spectators and things like that," he said.
The Harbour View players have been in St. Thomas since Monday in preparation for their game against Tivoli Gardens, but they haven't been doing what would be considered regular training.
"At this stage, physically and tactically, we have done it all. We just have some fine-tuning about what our opposition will do and what are our strengths and weaknesses," said Hayles.
Harbour View and coach Hayles are confident that they can make their way back to the Premier League final and grab a lien on their second trophy, but they are also wary of the nature of knockouts.
"The fact that it is a semi-final, it is more the situation than even the team so much. No matter who you play against, you have to bring your 'A' game because it's no-holds barred on that day. It is a one-shot situation. We may have to do a lot of work to get by this Tivoli team and that's why we are here."
