Links with J'can scientists in diaspora

THE EDITOR, Sir:

THE SCIENTIFIC Research Council, an agency of the Ministry of Commerce, Science and Technology, with Energy, aims to forge closer linkages with scientists in the Jamaican Diaspora through a skills bank on the diaspora website (diaspora.com) which will be linked to the SRC's website. This will augment the existing and growing database of scientific skills in the country.

The initiative aims at having a network of Jamaican scientists and technologists share information on common research initiatives being conducted locally and overseas. In addition, through this network, possibilities for joint ventures, collaborative studies, speakers' programmes and marketing of new products and technologies will be explored.

The SRC welcomes the concept of a Diaspora Day and looks forward to partnerships which will augur well for the development of Jamaica.
