20 arrested during police raid

TWENTY PERSONS were taken into custody during a police operation of several communities in St. James yesterday morning. Three of the men have been charged with breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.

Charged with possession of and dealing in ganja is Elijah Wellington, 41, while charged with possession of ganja seedlings is Sheldon King, 23, both of Roehampton, St. James.

Twenty-one-year-old Kenniel Kerr of Great River, Hanover, has been charged with possession of ganja.

The CCN's St. James Liaison Officer reported that between 3:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m, a team of police from the St. James Division carried out an operation in the parish.

King and Kerr were seen on the Montpelier main road and searched. Several seedlings were found in King's possession while Kerr was found with a quantity of ganja.

At Roehampton district, a shop operated by Wellington was searched and 49 packages of ganja found.

The Montego Bay police who are investigating say that the other men are being questioned in connection with various crimes committed in the area.
