Dean vows to win NPL
published: Tuesday | June 21, 2005

Howard Walker, Staff Reporter

DEAN

NATIONAL STRIKER Roland Dean has pledged to win the National Premier League (NPL) for Tivoli Gardens and make up the disappointment of being dropped from the Reggae Boyz squad to the Gold Cup which starts in July.

"My form is coming on pretty well and the goal that I scored in the first leg makes me feel good inside. Right now I feel pretty good going into the final," said Dean.

Of his omission from Jamaica's team for the biggest tournament in the region, Dean said he was disappointed and surprised after performing so good on the international scene.

"I don't know why because I was scoring goals for Jamaica and they dropped me saying that I am not scoring for my club," said Dean, rated as one of the best off the ball players in Jamaica.

NOT FAZED

"I don't think that should be a reason why I get dropped but that's life. Whenever I play for Jamaica I always score and that is supposed to mean a lot," he pointed out.

The speedy striker is not fazed and knows what to do to get back on track.

"I'll just have to win the premier league as this is my only chance," said Dean.

Dean, who has so far scored six goals for defending champions Tivoli, scored the opening goal in the first leg semi-final that opened the floodgates against Harbour View.

He was quick to point out that it was nagging injuries that hampered him from scoring more goals for his club this season.
