PLANS ARE heating up for the 53rd annual Denbigh Agricultural and Industrial Show set for July 30 to August 1.

Billed as the largest agricultural show in the Caribbean, the event's organisers, the Jamaica Agricultural Society (JAS), are expecting 100,000 visitors and have confirmed 150 exhibitors.

The show, promoted under the theme 'Grow What We Eat and Eat What We Grow', promises seven main attractions: Jamaica horticultural show exhibition; international chef competition; treasure hunt; kiddies village; Miss Farm Queen competition; food court; and an exhibition by Degradable Plastic Products from Canada.

Sponsored to the tune of $1.5 million by telecommunications firm Digicel, the event will also feature performances by Rising Stars contestants and the Digicel Gig Rig. The JAS said that following last year's difficulties, vehicular traffic will be carefully controlled to allow people to move around freely on foot.
