Encouraging our men
published: Saturday | July 2, 2005

THE EDITOR, Sir:

AS MEMBERS of the Spanish Town Ministers Fraternal, we wish to use this medium to continue our outcry against violence in our country. More specifically, we want to express our dismay at the present situation in Spanish Town. We are, however, still very optimistic that a positive change is possible. We cannot afford to lose focus and give over the country to a few who have decided to execute their own law and justice.

We would like to also use this medium to say thanks to the former Mayor of Spanish Town, Dr. Raymoth Notice, for the assistance he gave during his tenure in office. His strong support enabled us to actively participate in giving suggestions towards finding solutions to the crime problem facing our society.

We are also aware of the unfortunate issue that has resulted in his resignation as mayor. It is indeed a bold step that he has taken to demit office; our prayers are that the challenges which he now faces with his family will be resolved.. We stand in support of his family as they seek to fight against the spiritual forces that have attacked not just their relationship but many families across this island.

IMPLORE THEM

We admonish our men to not only put down physical weapons of violence, such as guns and knives, but we also implore them to curb verbal and emotional abuse that has been destroying our women, children and society in general. We thus encourage our men to step up to the plate in becoming real men by seeking to have a true relationship with Christ, thereby becoming men of quality and virtue.

I am, etc.,

PASTOR ROWAN

EDWARDS

Chairman, Spanish Town

Ministers Fraternal
