Of course J'can men can cook - and good too!
published: Thursday | July 7, 2005

Charlie Chaplin in his second year at the mini festival, prepares sweet and sour tofu and vege chunks. His dish was served with rice and peas and pasta. Part proceeds from the festival will go to the Best Care Foundation.

WITH THE barrage of entertainment in Kingston, families still find it difficult to find an event to which they can take the whole family. But, of course, not on Sunday, July 10 when the organisers of 'WHO SEY JAMAICAN MEN CYAAN COOK' showcase another thrilling family oriented event on the grounds of the Liguanea Club in the heart of New Kingston between 2:00 - 7:00 p.m. Gates will be open from noon.

Celebrities who will be stirring up a 'mean' cuisine in the cook off kitchen include: Keith Brown of Heineken Star Time Fame; popular police officer Cornwall 'Bigga' Ford; Dennis Hickey, COK's marketing specialist and West Indies cricket sportscaster Maurice Foster.

While the men chop, slice and dice from their cooking stations, female radio celebrities including Tricia 'Wild Child' Spence, will be cooling out at the turn table and spinning the discs with a wide selection of music to take the vibration to another level.

SPONSORS AND PARTICIPANTS

As patrons move from booth to booth to sample the offerings of sponsors and the participants in the cook-off, 'Jenny Jenny' of Radio II FM will introduce the acts providing entertainment throughout the day. Among them are the new singing sensation Diamara Neil, accomplished keyboardist Harold Davis, saxophone player from the west, Garfield Lawrence and gospel singers Pinky and Janice.

In the kiddies department Deh Deh the magician will thrill with his tricks; while clowns romp around and paint faces. Other attractions include Scooby Doo bounce-a-bout; the fun tent with pop corn, cotton candy and other delights.

Turn down all pots and head for the Liguanea Club on Sunday, July 10 because Jamaican men will be cooking for you.

Entrance fee is $500; children under 10 years old will be allowed in free of cost.
