EMOQUAD INTERNET Service in collaboration with MiPhone, introduced their Wireless Internet Solution (WISE) yesterday.
The role of the Internet service provider is to bring the Internet to the home or office, Hugh Campbell, chief executive officer of Emoquad told a press briefing at the Jamaica Pegasus Hotel. He said, the wireless method that Emoquad offers uses the CDMA cellular technology, which provides portability and eliminates all phone-call charges.
"Emoquad Wireless Internet Service (WISE) is a packet data techno-logy that is delivered over MiPhone CDMA network," he said. "You will be able to Internet anywhere (within the scope of the network) and at anytime, you will be able to move the Internet access with you. In other words, you are not tied to your home or office."
This technology also offers faster access to the Internet. The access speed that is reached is normally 110kbps as, he said, "the CDMA network is the only network to achieve practical data transfer rates."
The charge for the service is a flat rate monthly fee of US$35 thus eliminating any phone-call charges. With the MiPhone data cable connection method, the mobile phone can also be used in the usual manner at the end of the data transmission.
"The technology is opening up to the public additional methods of access to the Internet," Mr. Campbell said. "This is now a necessary part of the business life and future life in general. We invite the public to participate in this process."
