C&W slashes High-Speed Internet prices
published: Monday | July 11, 2005

CABLE AND Wireless yesterday announced a reduction in the price of its High-Speed Internet service with monthly prices starting at US$29.95.

The announcement was made by the company's CEO, Rodney Davis, at the opening of Cable and Wireless Horizon 2005 Technology show-case at the National Arena.

Mr. Davis described the broadband as "the technology of the future," and said Cable and Wireless intends to be the "driving force behind the deployment of broadband in Jamaica."

The broadband system allows users to use the Internet at speeds as much as 30 times faster than the dial-up format. Mr. Davis says Cable and Wireless rates will be considerably less than those in other countries where the system is used, including the United States and South Korea.

"We are providing this service at a cost that is approximately 40 per cent less than the average rate in the U.S.," said Mr. Davis.
