THE INDEPENDENT Jamaican Council for Human Rights (IJCHR) has condemned last week's terrorist attacks in London that left over 50 persons dead. In a statement released Friday, the day after the attack, the human rights organisation through its directors Dr. Lloyd Barnett and Nancy Anderson, described the attacks as 'brutal'.
'All peace-loving persons who respect human rights and in particular the right to life, must unite in the resolve to prevent such wicked acts and to apprehend and punish the responsible parties," the statement read.
The attack on the busy London subway took place while the G8 Summit was taking place in Gleneagles, Scotland. It came one day after the International Olympic Council announced that London would host of the 2012 Olympic Games.
The IJCHR statement concluded: 'The IJCHR extends its deepest sympathies to the families and friends of the victims of the attacks.'
